The first recording of online Mass was on June 13, 2020. During the COVID19 lockdown in the city and the country on the whole.
Initially we started using my phone, Melissa's phone, two tripods, a Church speaker, post-editing, and then uploading to YouTube. Then we bought an audio interface for good quality sound.
The Rosary Church YouTube Channel was created on Jan 25, 2013, through Parish under Communication Cell and had only 100+ subscribers. The purpose of the channel is to show the activities of the Parish. Then Masses started streaming on this channel. We tracked the number of views and analyzed the reason why it was less. The process was slow due to fewer activities. Later led to more LIVE stream Masses, activities in Community online plays/dramas, we had online talent programs, Youth Group started displaying their talent during the Lent with 40-day reflections and even documentary on our Parish during this year's Novena. Now we have 2188+ subscribers on Rosary Church Goregaon West YouTube Channel.
Camera setup kept changing from phones to rented high-end handy cam and the third party rented to set up for streaming and then finally even with high-end webcam for daily streaming. We made sure the streams were stable and had some quality. The Internet did give its instability in between but had to tackle it some way. Being a Graphic Designer and having knowledge in sound engineering gave me the way to deliver this facility in the Parish.
During this journey, Melissa, my wife, has been there all along in the setup, solutions, quality checks, Presentations, stream links, etc. Her skills and capacity have helped a lot in getting things done much faster and efficiently. Under the authority of our Parish Priest, we were privileged to execute online streaming.
We were glad that parishioners were connected with the Parish through these online platforms of celebrating Mass along with their families. End of the day this is between you and God on how you communicate with Him, pray to Him and worship to glorify Him, for which this leads us to spread the love around us at home and in society.
